Following recent correspondence from a member of the public regarding potential noise disturbance and anti social behaviour, we met last month with representatives from Hampshire Police and New Forest District Council’s Licensing Authority to review the matter together.

In attendance were PC Paul Dimmer, PS Leigh Brown, and Licensing Compliance Officer Peter Donelan, each of whom offered their time to discuss the situation constructively and share their observations.

We are pleased to confirm that all parties expressed full confidence in the measures we have in place to manage sound from our premises. Officers from Hampshire Police noted they have conducted several unannounced visits along Lymington High Street and surrounding areas at prime trading times, and on each occasion found no audible noise from within the venue. They also commented positively on how well the exterior is managed, with customers and smokers remaining considerate and the overall atmosphere described as calm and controlled. PC Dimmer acknowledged that there is little to nothing we can do, or should be doing, to manage noise from members of the public in public spaces, and pointed out that being opposite the main taxi rank for the town it is more likely that people will congrugate in the area at night.

All parties also acknowledged that the amount of noise experienced on the High Street in Lymington is far below that which is deemed acceptable in other tow

ns of similar size.

The New Forst District Council Licensing representative confirmed they were satisfied that Huddle meets and exceeds the requirements of its premises licence, and that our management approach continues to demonstrate best practice. They also took the time to reassure us of their support and appreciation for our ongoing efforts to maintain an excellent standard of compliance.

At Huddle, our goal has always been to create a warm, welcoming place for people to come together, to enjoy great food, local drinks and good company, while being respectful of our neighbours and the wider community. We take that responsibility seriously and will continue to work collaboratively with local authorities and residents to uphold these standards.

We would like to sincerely thank PC Dimmer, PS Brown, and Mr Donelan, as well as the wider teams within Hampshire Police and New Forest District Council, for their constructive engagement and continued partnership. Their reassurance means a great deal to us and to our team, who take pride in making Huddle a positive part of life on Lymington High Street.

If you are a member of the public and wish to raise concerns around noise or anti social behaviour please feel free to contact us at hello@huddlelymington.co.uk and be assured we take all concerns seriously and wish to engage positively to resolve any issues.
